The Year of the Gentlemen.....

So I actually looked forward to relaxing infront of my T.V. screen and flicking my channel to tune into B.E.T's 2009 award show, especially when I heard they were going to the a special due the the rcent departure of the 'King of Pop'. The program tried to start of with a bang, getting New edition to replicate Jackson 5 sensational ABC hit... I'm telling you I could barely remember the performance 5 minutes into the programme, and grimaced at the weak vocals of some of the members, which were not reminiscent at all of their youthful success. Performances from Drake, Keith Sweat, Lil Wayne, New Edition and others graced the box and hyped the crowds also. Jamie Foxx was undeniably a great host, and his comedic sketches were undeniably side splitting. It was great to see and hear the sexy and sultry soothing tones of Neyo on many occasions, and at times accompanied by Mr. Foxx soulful tones. It was great to see the combination of great male R'n'B acts from the past, present and future, I melted at the tribute in which Johnny Gill (My,my,my), Tyrese (sweet lady) and Trey Songz (last time) harmonised so sweetly together. Fixiated on this confident and masculine and oo so seductive performance, I felt like a school girl again all giddy and loved up on swooning over some celebrity. The Ojay's were predictably show-stopping as they closed the show with some of their greatest hits and established men within the African American community were acknowledged for their success and contributions. The night surely did pay homage to the talents of men, alongside the great and unfortunateLy late Michael Jackson, but it nonetheless did live up to the statement, to an extent 'The Year of the Gentlemen'.
