It's a Come Back Not To Be Missed!!!

According to the starlet, we've yet to catch up with her as she set's to relaunch her prestigious career as one of the world's greatest female vocalist's. With hits such has 'saving all my love', 'dance with somebody' and 'my love is your love', this multi-platinum selling veteran has reunited with the musical genius Clive Davis in attempt to recreate the magic and unmeasurable success the dynamic duo achieved decades before. Though looking amazing, with figure still intact the illusion of growing gracefully (naturally) from a distance fills the screen, however it's evident this Grammy winning songstress took a trip to Dr.90210 for a lil nip and tuck. But hey, what do you expect being apart of the Hollywood scene and a refurbished career looming in her back pocket. With her new album 'I look to you' predicted to sweep the music industry like a storm, and dominate from August to September, even Mariah Carey and L.A Reid have wisely pushed their album back just to give way and prevent being trampled all over. An album promised to be filled with great melody and lyrics that undoubtedly "speak to you", reminiscent of the "standards" that they've set in music previously. Whitney is sure please the fans she's gained with her matured and soulful voice that once captivated our hearts, and still continues to beat blissfully regardless of the hardship and adversity she has overcome!!!

Give her a tissue... for this cry for attention !!!

So do we need to lock her up and send her to rehab like Brittney, or is this new hairstyle the beginning of a low maintenance trend for the summer!!! More like a cry for attention, with celebs such as Brittney Spears and Cassie shaving their hair off or at least half way...showing the level of craziness they've reached. It's now become a warning signal to sport a level 1 do unless your fashionista Amber Rose or Rhianna. Solange over the years has more then tried to step out of her sisters spot light and the bubble gum pop star she was first shoved into the lime light as. And as if her catchy yet eclectic blend of Pop, R'n'B and Dance beats and distinct vocals weren't enough, she had to go a step further with young pregnancy, a fashion forward wardrobe and now an new hair cut!!! We know who you are Solange, you don't have to go all Brittney on us, and yes we do like your music.... I guess we can look forward to a new album or single being launched out of the woodwork any time soon!

A Word to the Wise....

So ages ago when I was a little girl (yes...I was actually smaller then my present height),, whilst I ran around playing with my cousins like we had no home training (which I assure you we had very much of...by force) my Uncle Nat made this poem up, which we had to learn, and its kept with me ever since. I'm going to share with you......

' Work while you work, Play while you play, that is the way to be cheerful and gay (happy), all that you do, do it with your might, things done by half are never done right'.....

lets just say its a philosophy I live by, and it's paying....so I thanked him the other day for it and he replied 'A word to the wise is enough'.............. let's hope so :)

Cugar's on the prowl.....

So the jungle has changed and so have the rules! No longer will the lion reign supreme over his domain, but the Cougars are to play and they ain't afraid to dominate over the young pieces of male specimen that roam the earth! Women such as Vivica A. Fox, Demi Moore and Mariah Carey are renowned cougars on the scene and have dated some of Hollywood's hottest up and coming young men. So what makes these middle aged temptresses so irresistible to men half their age, is it there capability to satisfy sexually, their lack of so called 'childish' games, or do men really not mind being snuggled up to a women aging a twice the speed he is, I mean come on, what is it? Self proclaimed Queen Cougar Vivica A. Fox and host to US reality show 'The Cougar', admits to being drawn to the younger man, setting her eyes on men like 50 cent, Flo Rida and Zac Effron (watch out young buck..lol). One benefit in this situation according to some, is the dominance and control the woman has within the relationship, sorry guys but your gonna have more then one mama on your tail...... if this kind of jungle loving rocks your boat! O hey I missed out a crucial part to this equation, younger man plus older women means you subtract and have the remaining the young women who have nothing left but the bottom barrel pick of the bunch of nonsense left, as the good one's are taken. Ain't it by right they get a chance too!!!!!.... Seems like the Cougars ain't about to share with anybody, marking their territory whilst leaving the young cubs to starve. On the flip side of things, there is still that socially more acceptable older man and younger woman combo, which has been happening from the dawn of time. My personal take on this new social phenomenon, is hey go for it girl, if your sexy enough to scoop up and maintain a man in his prime, I ain't mad at ya, as long as it don't effect my chance's, but there really is a limit, I mean come on being with your grandmother would just be sick!!!!

What Garden Did You Blossom From....Because it's Not That Bad!!!

Latest Hip-Hop accessory upon the Louis Vitton Don's arm, is style icon and Ford model Amber Rose. Sexy enough to be a video vixen this blond hair bombshell (dyed blue recently) is paped by paparazzi where ever she goes, anticipating the launch of the next figure hugging ensemble. Known also for low cut shaven hair and bold sunglasses, she has entered the fashion scene making a statement, that has been notably recognized. The mix and blend between high fashion with an urban ghetto chic, has got the fashion conscious individuals applauding the many looks she pulls off.

Like her multi-platinum selling rapper boyfriend, Amber Rose is able to stunt effortlessly as if swagga's been intertwined within her D.N.A. Apart from her skin-tight outfits which range from her love of leggings to a variety of mini dresses, she also has a love for shoes, hands down her collection is somewhat outstanding, from casual Doc Martin's to high stiletto heels from Gucci and Jimmy Choo. This fashionista is definitely set on a road to stardom, of some kind, and her cocky trend setting boyfriend won't hurt the journey either!!!!

Sorry Why is Everyone Screaming Your Name???

Lately newest Hip-Hop rapper to the game DRAKE, was shoved into the consciousness of mainstream music. Supported and shown love by all star rappers such as Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg, this light skin carbon copy of Kanye West has been overhyped and to opinion sooo much overrated, in regards to his lyrical ability and the presence he brings to the Hip-Hop scene! I mean I watched that video 'Best I ever had' and emmmm, I didn't jump over the moon that all I can say! It lacked orginality and that pizzazz that allows you to stay glued to it regardless of rotation of Sky's numerous music channels. His style of flow is not particularly 'INDIVIDUAL', I mean if you close your eyes you could really picture the Louis Vitton Don all over. The performance at 2009 B.E.T awards showed, yet another example of Mr. West stage choreography, please If I'm wrong shoot me, but make sure you watch that clip. I've seen other upcoming artist fall into that same excessive static hand movement with that hunched over back. I'm not going to totally slag him off, because although Drake's style has failed to wow me, the beat behind to tune is very catchy and sure to be a club banger, I personally can't help but sing-a-long to the chorus. Regardless of my insignificant opinion, he has been hitting it big within the States signing with 'Young Money' and Kanye West shooting his video(which was crap may I add), all of this has helped propel him to the top, with a track which is one of the 'HOTTEST' out right now, according to some! I haven't listened to his whole album yet, but I ain't drawn to it either! I guess it's still early days for the climbing star, and we shall see if he manages to remain on that comfortable stool at the top, otherwise it will be a swift but painful fall to the bottom!

The Cringe Factor!!!

The announcement of Bruno left me in anticipation at the arrival of Sacha Baron Cohen's new film. Hoping that it would reciprocate the outlandish and exhibitionist sense of humour displayed by Borat and Ali G, it surpassed them combined.
Like Borat, Bruno is charged with slurs so politically incorrect that they either arouse instant infuriation or leave your thrown back with hysteria. As the majority of the theatre roared with laughter, I couldn;;t help but cringe with embarrassment to the scenes of middle aged swingers getting it on, and what seemed like an hour of gay paraphernalia, and sex toys, including a makeshift contraction consisting of an exercise bike and a dildo. This movie is definitely not for the light hearted!
The most famous Austrian since Hitler managed to offend everyone under the sun whilst prancing about making American's seem even more dense then before, as they allowed their kids to be dressed up as Nazi's crucifying a black 'Jesus' on the cross. Also highlighting the absurdity of importing an African child (named OJ) as the latest fashion trend, pointed the finger at celebs like Madonna and Brangelina.
Bruno hilariously and quite sickly I may add ended the whole spectacle of great satire, eccentric flamboyance and the running in's with terriorist and agents with a cheeky and perverted charity song that mocked any other that had come before it, blessed with his famous pals Elton John, Snoop and Bono. I'd say this is a great watch if your not sensitive to the going on's and ignorance of the true world, those who fail to have a backbone and fall sensitive to homophobia, race and religion issues, I believe you should give it a pass!

Time for a Change!

So last night I had the pleasure of being in the same company as inspiration, aspiration and hard work ... so I've realised that the blog is not going in the direction I had hoped and therefore it shall be revamped. I don't mean I going to stop writing about the things I've done in the past, but I'm going to add a lil bit of entertainment news in regards to fashion, film, music and celebrities etc. Hopefully therefore the blog will be a little bit more entertaining and current with present trends attitudes and interests. Anyway we shall see!

The Year of the Gentlemen.....

So I actually looked forward to relaxing infront of my T.V. screen and flicking my channel to tune into B.E.T's 2009 award show, especially when I heard they were going to the a special due the the rcent departure of the 'King of Pop'. The program tried to start of with a bang, getting New edition to replicate Jackson 5 sensational ABC hit... I'm telling you I could barely remember the performance 5 minutes into the programme, and grimaced at the weak vocals of some of the members, which were not reminiscent at all of their youthful success. Performances from Drake, Keith Sweat, Lil Wayne, New Edition and others graced the box and hyped the crowds also. Jamie Foxx was undeniably a great host, and his comedic sketches were undeniably side splitting. It was great to see and hear the sexy and sultry soothing tones of Neyo on many occasions, and at times accompanied by Mr. Foxx soulful tones. It was great to see the combination of great male R'n'B acts from the past, present and future, I melted at the tribute in which Johnny Gill (My,my,my), Tyrese (sweet lady) and Trey Songz (last time) harmonised so sweetly together. Fixiated on this confident and masculine and oo so seductive performance, I felt like a school girl again all giddy and loved up on swooning over some celebrity. The Ojay's were predictably show-stopping as they closed the show with some of their greatest hits and established men within the African American community were acknowledged for their success and contributions. The night surely did pay homage to the talents of men, alongside the great and unfortunateLy late Michael Jackson, but it nonetheless did live up to the statement, to an extent 'The Year of the Gentlemen'.

The King of Pop Leaves His Throne (Uncrowned)....

Unfortunately and to the shock of many around the world, 'Musical Genius' and 'World Class Entertainer' Michael Jackson died this June.

At first I thought this is just one of Michael's many publicity stunts with the news updates indecisive about his medical position, and thought how low is he going to stoop to arouse hype for this upcoming tour, or try and weasel his way out of it. Now I'm not being insensitive because just like any other I loved Michael's music, and he was apart of the childhood memories in my home, but earlier this year when I found out about the 50 London shows, I had predicted, probably like may others that he wasn't going fulfil his promise, coincidence...I don't no, but I wouldn't be shocked if there was a conspiracy behind the whole situation that only the Jackson family knows about!

Irrespective of all of that, it really is hard to comprehend that the King of Pop is dead.I have so many fond memories of being with my cousins or siblings singing along to his tunes or that of the Jackson Five, doing the dances (especially that infamous crotch hold or that kick of the leg), even the sing-a-longs to PYT we murdered on rotation in my mum's car!!! Awwww memories ( smile on my face). Who could even deny the excellence and precision that went into his video aka short-films to MJ (Mr.Jackson to the unfamiliar) with 'Billy Jean', 'Smooth Criminal', 'You Rock My World' and the 'Way You Make Me Feel'...( I especially loved that one). A man tortured by the ghost of his childhood and scrutinized and exploited during his adulthood, you only hope that his soul may now rest in peace.

Well Michael as Trevor Nelson would say 'We Salute You'.... your presence in music has left an imprint that will resonate throughout time and is apart of history!!!!

Forget About Size Zero....I Thought Big Girls Have More Fun!!!!!

Forget about size zero...I thought big girls have more fun!!!! Now I'm not taking away from all those dedicated people banging out the gym, maintaining that beach body physique ...trust me I'm all for it...BUT simultaneously and in contradiction I'm very much apart of the F.A.T the food appreciation team were we follow a strict doctrine of eating to satisfy the taste buds and the belly....lol. I'm just saying with summer here you not only want to look good, you want to feel good as well and that means not starving yourself or depriving yourself of some of life's pleasures.
It's very possible to eat 2/3 good meals a day, work out at the gym once or twice a week (trust me I've seen it being done!), whilst scoping on the muscular physique of the fittest young men (can't forget to workout your eyes ;p) and still attain a curvaceous and draw dropping slamming body. If I could only have the body of celebrities such as keyisha Cole, Angel lola love and Toni Braxton, I'd forget about clothes and run around naked all day with a pair of heels and my make-up did! (not really..but it be a thought though alie).
Trust me is more fun to run around in the summer sun with the rays bouncing off your curves as their appreciated by the glances of other sex, whilst be able to indulged in that chocolate cake rather then having that rail like frame and a stomach grumbling every time you take a whiff of the enriched and seasoned cooked food!

Addicted To That Same Ol' Drug...

I just wanna scream...ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!.... I feel like a crackhead going through the pains of withdrawal symptoms, except my erratic body spasms are not due to a crave for the line of white, I'm dying for a quick fix of retail therapy, you know that feeling of exhilaration as your arm reaches for that top on a hanger, or body hugs a form fitting heart-attack in the shape of the latest dress, or they day you brake those new heels in. OMG......I'm climaxing (not sexually, for you dirt minded scoundrel) just think about it....I need to pop some tags, I need that struggle on the bus with a hand full of bag with NEW CLOTHES.

It does not help in the slightest, that where I work...OXFORD CIRCUS is in the middle of SALE invasion, all i see is 50%, 20% and I'm floating in the direction of one of my favorite shops (TopShop :) iLove). This feeling of complete unrestrained consumerism, is put on the reigns when I shoved back into reality and I think Oh yea, I 'm going on holiday (Woohoo..Dominican Republic '09) let me save up a lil more, and the weather now, in her majesty's Ol'England does not permit it (Where's the Sun, for goodness-sake!!!) . Newho, knowing me and the genes I inherited from my grandmother, I'm not about to completely pass up on this opportunity to shop, spend, buy and purchase!!, I'll just try and do it moderately and make the most of.......Oh BTW me constantly looking at Asos and other websites full of the latest trends does not help.

So Crakheads...uh hmmm I mean shopaholics, trend-junkies spending that Hot GWALA (means money, dollar, green, bread and honey)....I sympathies...spend spend spend...you didn't think I would discourage you did you? I'm planning what I'm going to buy the next time I hit up West :) !

Live long and Prosper, just don't hurt your pockets!

Today's Moments of Reflection

Have you been awoken to a sky, white washed with grey, that what happened today. Blah! All I could think when the potential dullness of this day dawned upon me.............. wot am I supposed to do! This summer I've been privileged enough not to be stuck at home twiddling my thumbs away with tedious spasms of bored-ness, until now I thought. So today I'm doing a little reflecting and trying to rejuvenate the faith I so passionately hold in my Lord and the course of life he has set before me. All I'm saying its really hard and demotivating trying to look for work in the career field your you want (journalism), and not really getting anywhere, Oh BTW....I really need a job change as well. Anyway I'm going to keep my head up, think positively and hold on to faith, and claim it in JESUS CHRIST name....Amen!!!!

On from that brief moment of drowning in my own insecurity and uncertainty, I picked up the other day two books. The first is called 'Purple Hibiscus' by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, so far it about a young girls life as a Catholic Priests daughter in Nigeria, and her newly liberated life as result to a military coup. This is not supposed to be a blurb at the back, but I will write a short review on it when I'm done reading later. Its too bad I didn't think of this blogging stuff much earlier, otherwise I would have advised some good reading from black authors i.e. Why the Cadged Bird Sings, The Secret Life of Bees, Waiting to Exhale and others..........

Terra for now!!!!

Insecruity masked with Beauty

'God has blessed me to be confident' what a contradiction I thought, as I sat watching these glamorous women prance around with a face full of make-up and their breast half out. Past the mask of beauty and glitz and glamor of some of these camera hoars, only crying out for attention, was a deep secret. One thing all these women in front of the camera had in come was being born to look like daddy, and now looking like mother dear, or rather in some cases serious and I emphasis the word ATTEMPT to look like females. I wasn't sickened by their choices, but rather saddened, that they felt they had to be some one they weren't. Irrespective of the continuous assertions that this is what the good lord had meant them to be, and may have made a mistake along the way!
These women or men, were in search of self-acceptance but I felt the masquerade to this transgendered lifestyle distances them from it. It also raised issues with plastic surgery and make-up, has the world become so disillusioned with the issue of beauty and perfection, that we forget in all essence what is important. With millions of dollars being invested and spent of the cosmetic industry, the world is fully immersed in its own egotism and conceitedness, and there is only hope for a few the escape the clutches of vanity. Though I admired the beauty of some women, all they remained were works of art, a beautiful painting painted with sorrow.
'This was the close I was going to get to fame', the cry for attention reeked through the pageant, as many propped, plucked and fluffed nip and tucked pieces. The truth is these women, men or works of art will never be truly complete or satisfied, and will forever chase an object of desire. This essence of reality was unbeknown to all contestants, and separated them and all those who choose to chase material assets or beauty, from true happiness, and being at one with one's self.

I Am the One Who...Remains!!!

I am the one whose eyes swallow you into a chocolate abyss, as you staring lost into a soul whose life has just began, but is not defined by the vessel. I am the one whose strength is defined by the arch of her back, and whose emotional burden is carried on the breadth of her shoulders. I am the one who sees the weight unbearable to carry, but still manages to stretch her neck with pride as the Ashanti princess does upon her throne. I am the one whose sexiness is defined by the thickness of her lips, where the arch curbs a taste of sweet honey unknown to the world but sacred for him. I am the one whose hips sway to an enticing beat, belly full of life but dormant until the hour when the sun rays disperse over a foreign land. I am the one whose breadth of the noes is tormented with ridicule, but who's skin is ordained with the richness of cocoa and immersed into an opulence of mahogany. I am the one whose neck snaps abruptly, face grimacing at the presence of insolence. I am the one whose cut of the eye pierces the ego, whose kiss of the teeth reeks with attitude baptized in a haughty flare. I am the one who was cradled int the bounty of love, and suckled at the teat of knowledge. I am the one who escaped the shackles of protection, and will soon stand alone faced with the day of accountability.

But it is I amongst all adversity and blessings, throughout the journey of life, It is I who's spirit remains the same, constant, in tune with the divine, edified by the fruit, at one with peace. Yes it is I who remains a beautiful black woman, African to the root, yet remains a beautiful black woman!!!!!!

The First Chapter

So I'm marking this as the beginning, the birth of a new born child, the smell of fresh dew the morning after a storm............. (extra, I know).....
But felt last night as dwelled on the complexities of my life, and my more then relaxed approach to situations, especially since I've been set free from the cage of university, that I now have the opportunity to strive towards my dream.
I really should make the most of this 'journalistic aspiration' of mine, by writing and reading as much as possible ( I'ma hit up the local library soon) ....so...i thought y not start a blog......to date, it has no self defined structure...but hopefully it will mould its self into something I feel worthy of showing to others......... I guess all I'm going to do is blab on about MY OPINION on various topics ........ well see how this goes!!!!....... so lets open a bottle of bubbly a celebrate 'CHEERS' (sparkle, sparkle...lights and smiles) 'to the beginning, and may your new life be well defined, and interesting enough to capture an audience'!!!!!!!!
